5 November 2010 (Paris, France) – Paris holds a unique place in my life, especially around Fall. The city tends to be quieter in the Fall and the changing of the leaves adds a unique mix of colours to an already colourful city. Certainly in terms of lighting, I find Fall lighting more interesting to work with. The sky tends appear in a stronger, more vivid colour blue and the shadows you get because the sun is lower along the horizon, can add some interesting dimensions to a photograph.

Today was my first full day in Paris. I arrived later Thursday night. I decided that on this trip, I would not photograph places that I have already photographed on earlier trips. This time, the photographs are only going to be of the new places I have visited. I did venture out to the Eiffel Tower to enjoy a pic nic like lunch in the Fall sun shine, but as I have photographed the area before, my camera stayed packed away in my bag. But, I did venture off to Pere-Lachaise Cemetery. I was struck by how many people were there both at Jim Morrison’s grave and at Oscar Wilde’s. Wilde’s was covered with kisses and notes. Morrion’s with mostly flowers.

The colour of the trees made the cemetery more interesting. Coupled with the crows that were around the cemetery and who where complete characters themselves, it made for a different kind of photography adventure.
